Toyota Prius - Model Hybrid No.1 in Japan

[24HCAR] - Despite the difficulties encountered during the first half period in 2010. However,sales of the Toyota Prius remains maintain at a high level in Japan.

In Japan Market,Prius continues to be the best-selling car in June with a total of 31,876 vehicles sold,higher than the Honda Fit(15,955 vehicles).This is the 14th consecutive month Prius has been honored.

"Demand for the Prius remains very strong as consumers continue to opt for hybrid vehicles",Yukio Kogoshi,spokesman for the Association of Japanese carmaker said.

In the first six months in 2010, Toyota sold 170,426 Prius,increase 230% over the same period last year.

Currently, Toyota has begun testing the Plug-in Hybrid Prius in Europe and America.Similar to the 3rd generation Prius,Plug-In is equipped with lithium-ion battery,can be recharged from a standard 240V electricity supply.
