Hyundai launches car run entirely by electricity

Hyundai Motors, the largest manufacturer of South Korea, yesterday 9/9 was released BlueOn - a car run entirely by electricity.


Based on I10 model is selling well the market in Europe and India, an experimental version of the Hyundai BlueOn, also known as the i10 Electric, was launched at the Frankfurt Exhibition in September last year.

Length 3.585mm, wide 1.595mm and high 1.540mm, Hyundai BlueOn equipped with lithium-ion polymer provides 16.4 kWh of energy to operate an electric motor, capacity 82 horsepower and maximum torque 210 Nm (155lb-ft).

BlueOn can reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h, and needed 13.1 seconds to accelerate 0-100km/h. When the battery is fully charged,  BlueOn can make 140km journey.


It will take 6 hours to fully charge battery with 220V mains. With 380V mains, the rechargeable battery can be 80% in just 25 minutes. Information charging status was displayed on the 4.2-inch LCD screen on the car.

BlueOn also application system create virtual sound for engine VESS, to warn passers, especially the blind.

Hyundai will produce 30 units BlueOn first for the Korean government to run the experiment. If all goes according to plan, Hyundai will ship 2500 vehicles in late 2012.
